Orkest Phion
Since assisting Joost Smeets in the production Paradiso (2023), Sjoerd has formed a good working relation with Orkest Phion. Motivated by this initial collaboration, he moved to Arnhem and works regularly as a host, workshop leader and freelancer with the department of education and interaction. Sjoerd will take on the role of Musical Director in the upcoming production of SACRE (2026). This is a large scale project with Orkest Phion, Introdans, Theater Oostpool and Musis & Stadstheater with musicians from Jeugd Orkest Nederland.
Ensemble Project Foundation (STEP)
The Ensemble Project Foundation is an annual recurring project orchestra with conservatory students and high level amateur players from all over The Netherlands. As a highly ambitious ensemble, the group performs pieces that are generally outside of the scope of other student ensembles. Besides offering a podium for 30-35 musicians each project, STEP plays a crucial role in the development of young conductors and composers. Since its foundation in 2019, STEP has performed 16 new compositions.

IJmuider Symphony
The IJmuider Symphony is a community first project orchestra in my original hometown of IJmuiden. In honour of 150 year IJmuiden, the orchestra will perform the piece also called IJmuider Symfonie in collaboration with pop choir Decibel, Wind Band Soli and Haventheater. String players are encouraged to join the project.
Orkest van het Groene Hart
Het Orkest van het Groene Hart is an amateur orchestra residing in Woerden. With a larger size and experienced players, the orchestra is able to program great works from the classical and romantic canon. Recently the orchestra has performed pieces such as Schubert – Symphony 8 (die Unvollendete), Schumann 3 (der Rheinische) and is currently working on Mozart – Symphony 35 (Haffner).

Chamber Orchestra Midden-Holland
The Chamber Orchestra Midden-Holland is an amateur ensemble with a regional function ranging from The Hague and Rotterdam to Utrecht. The intimate size of the ensemble makes the orchestra perfectly suited to perform pieces from the classical period such as late works by Mozart or early works by Beethoven. To allow pieces from the later classical period and early romantic period to be programmed, the orchestra has the ambition to steadily grow in size, becoming one of the leading ensembles in the region.
