Sjoerd Haver is an ambitious conductor with a strong technique and a big passion for the orchestra. In 2023 he was selected to participate in the Dutch Conducting Masterclass by Jorma Panula. In the same year, he assisted Joost Smeets in a co-production by Orchestra Phion, Introdans and Theater Oostpool. In 2024, Sjoerd led the fernorchester of Mahler - Symphony No. 2 at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. Furthermore, he recently assisted Martijn Dendievel in Mahler - Symphony No.1 with the Youth Orchestra Flanders. This summer, Sjoerd will assist Peter Leonard and Tom Seligman at the Berlin Opera Academy in Mozart - Le Nozze di Figaro and Humperdinck - Hänsel und Gretel.


Currently, Sjoerd is the principal conductor of both the Chamber Orchestra Midden-Holland and Valse Romantique Symphony Orchestra. He is also the artistic director of the Ensemble Project Foundation and string section coach at the CREA Orchestra. Sjoerd is also involved with shorter orchestra projects. Every year he conducts Tchaikovsky - The Nutcracker in a production with ballet, orchestra and storyteller. He also conducts final exams of conservatory students regularly. As a substitute conductor Sjoerd often works with orchestras such as Philharmonic Orchestra Mozart, Wageningen Student Choir and Orchestra Association, Wind Ensemble Timber and Wind Band Soli Driehuis (1st division).
